Our History

Calvary Chapel New Brunswick began as Reason to Rejoice Christian Fellowship in September of 2002. Pastor Daniel Fusco had recently been ordained by Pastor John Henry Corcoran of Calvary Chapel Marin, Novato, CA. and was sent out to plant a church. Pastor Daniel had grown up in New Jersey and had graduated from Rutgers University, located here in New Brunswick. Having met very few Christians in his four years of college, Daniel had a burden for the city. Upon arriving in New Jersey, Daniel began to meet people and invited them to home Bible study.

In September of 2002, the Lord opened a door for this small Bible study to begin meeting in the Rutgers Student Center at 2 pm on Sundays. Many students began to hear about Reason to Rejoice and began attending.

After nearly nine months of meeting at the Student Center, as well as short stints at a local coffee shop and Pastor Daniel’s house, Reason to Rejoice moved into the basement of the First Reformed Church, one of the oldest churches in New Brunswick. With only about a dozen attendees, Reason to Rejoice began to hold Sunday monrning services, as well as a Wednesday midweek service, in April of 2003.

Within nine months, the fellowship outgrew the “basement of God” (as it was affectionately called) and moved into our present location, the Upstairs Chapel of the First Reformed Church. It is here that we began a Sunday evening Prophetic books study.

In November 2006, Pastor Jason Falzarano was elected leader of the New Brunswick Congregation, after tutoring under Daniel Fusco for years.

Pastor Fusco moved out to Mills Valley, California to plant a new church, Calvary North Bay. Our history is being written every day. Won’t you come and be a part of it
